Independent shareholders of Recorded Music NZ have voted to elect Chris van de Geer (as Independent Rights Holder Director) and Hariet Ellis (as Artist Representative Director) to join the RMNZ board for the next three years.
Well known as a producer, engineer and guitarist still performing with stellar*, van de Geer is a co-founder and MD of Auckland’s Bigpop Music which provides label, publishing, and music and audio production services. Ellis is also an active indie musician (Dick Move, Na Noise), as well as being A&R and Label Manager at Flying Nun Records, as well as a board member of IMNZ.
They will join the RMNZ board effective from 1 June, replacing outgoing members Nicky Harrop and Nick Atkinson who have held those roles for six years.
There have been other recent changes to the Recorded Music board following the departure of longstanding member Adam Holt, and since February the board has engaged Juliet Tainui-Hernandez (Ngāi Tahu, Te Whakatōhea) as Māori Board Advisor. Passionate about embedding te ao Māori principles across institutions, she has experience in executive leadership and advisory roles internationally and in Aotearoa, with a focus on strategic, transformative leadership.
