It’s not too late to register interest for Tūhonohono, a new experimental funding round Te Māngai Pāho are organising.
With Tūhonohono, TMP are looking to support artists to both write new songs and collaborate.
This pilot round is meant to give an indication for the appetite of non-reo-speaking artists to collaborate with te reo Māori artists and lyricists to create new te reo Māori waiata.
The funding is open to artists, musicians, songwriters, and lyricists who are willing to break their music and language barriers by writing a song from scratch with someone they’ve never co-written with before. Applicants should have relevant experience to draw upon. Songs funded by Tūhonohono should be at least 50% in te reo Māori.
Each successful applicant will receive $2,500.00 (plus GST or minus withholding tax, whichever is applicable). No co-investment is required and turn around will be quick.
More info can be found here. The deadline has been extended to Friday, May 15.
