The Jazz Awards 2017 finalists have been announced. Two awards will be presented this year; the Recorded Music NZ Best Jazz Album award and the APRA Best Jazz Composition.
The finalists for the best jazz album are Myele Manzanza’s ‘OnePointOne‘ (reviewed here), Jonathan Crayford’s ‘East West Moon‘, and the Mike Nock Trio & NZ Trio’s ‘Vicissitudes.’
Callum Allardice’s Deep Thought, Bruce Brown’s It’s A Good Time (To Be A Man), and Familia by Jasmine Lovell-Smith are all in the running for best jazz composition.
The winners will be announced on June 11 at the Wellington Jazz Festival.
