NZ On Air Music has announced the recipients of the September 2022 NewMusic Single funding round.
Out of over 200 applications, 34 songs were chosen to receive up to $10,000 to support the artists’ recording, video and promotion costs.
Within September’s list of funded artists are nine first-time NewMusic Single recipients, as well as several who have previously collaborated with established local producers via NZ On Air’s NewMusic Development scheme. Half of September’s funded artists identify as female, female-led, gender-diverse, or as mixed-gender groups.
The panel for this round consisted of Cameron Mansel (NZME), Harrison Pali (RNZ’s Tahi FM), Fi Carr (Radio Control), Leanda Borrett (AudioCulture), Ngatapa Black (Whakaata Māori), Pennie Black (Native Tongue), and Jeff Newton (NZ On Air).
The next NewMusic Single funding round will open October 6, with applications due by October 27. Click here for more info.
