Nominations are open for Creative New Zealand’s  Ngā Taonga Toi a Te Waka Toi (the Te Waka Toi Awards) for 2021. The awards recognise the artistic excellence, achievement and contribution of Māori artists working in customary and contemporary Māori arts.

Three of the award categories are open for public nominations:

• Ngā Manu Pīrere award – Emerging artist showing promise and potential in their chosen art form.
• Ngā Tohu Hautūtanga – Recognising leadership and outstanding contribution to the development of new directions in Māori art.
• Toi Iho Pūmanawa award – Experience of disability and making a national or international arts contribution.
