NZ Artists Succeed In Unsigned Only 2022 Competition

NZ artists claimed spots and a pair of Honourable Mentions in US-based Unsigned Only 2022 music competition, as well as a special promotion win for Kylie Prices song Stay.

The Kiwi narrowly pipped for category wins were Ōtautahi artist Sam Heselwood for his song Don’t Speak in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category, and Mild Orange for their track What’s Your Fire in the Rock category. The Honourable Mentions went to Ōtepoti’s Kylie Price for Stay in the Pop/Top 40 category, and Levi Lights On Project for Eyes Of A Child in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category.

Winners were selected from almost 7,000 entries from all over the world by a judging panel of high-profile music artists and industry experts.

“The continued success of Kiwi artists in the competition is due to the creativity and diversity of so many local talented musicians,” say Candace Avery and Jim Morgan, founders/directors of Unsigned Only. “For a country of its size, the New Zealand music scene is undeniably impressive.“

Established in 2012, the music competition is geared toward music artists who are unsigned to a major record label or affiliates, announced its 2022 winners today.
