Applications are open for the SOUNZ Community Commission 2023 | Te Tono Mahinga ā-Hapori a SOUNZ 2023.
The commission consists of a grant of $2000 which is awarded to a professional composer to enable them to engage with a community group he/she has not worked with before. The aim is to support a collaborative process between the composer and a community group, and to create a series of resources based on the experiences of the two parties involved. A further $800 is available for the successful group to hold a public performance or concert for the resulting work.
Established in 1999 the project brings together local professional composers and community groups to create and perform a new work. It has resulted in a diversity of works such as a community group for young people with learning disabilities, community choirs, experimental sound artists, youth orchestras and children’s theatre.
Proposals for projects from composers should be emailed, with a completed application form, to info@sounz.org.nz by July 31, 2023. Download the entry form with terms and conditions here.
