SAE Auckland Launches New Songwriting Programme

SAE Auckland Launches New Songwriting Programme

SAE Auckland has announced the launch of a new songwriting programme.

Having recently received official accreditation, the new programme is set to commence in February 2024, opening up exciting opportunities for students keen on making a career in songwriting and music performance.

The programme offers two pathways for students who are aspiring singer-songwriters and music performers. Students can apply to study either a Diploma in Songwriting and Musicianship or a Bachelor of Songwriting. These programmes are designed to nurture and enhance skills in melody and lyric writing, composition, collaboration, live performance and recording techniques.

Filling the gap left by the closure of the MAINZ Auckland campus earlier this year the introduction of songwriting courses at SAE has been welcomed by professionals in the music industry and education sectors. Highly regarded musician and educator Dr. Stephen Small has returned to SAE to head the songwriting program. “Stephen is the perfect person to lead these qualifications,” says SAE Auckland Director Dr Suzette Major. “Not only is he an internationally renowned musician who brings over 25 years experience in writing, arranging and producing, but Stephen also has extensive experience in tertiary education.”
