Nervous Jerk Win RDU Round Up 2017

Last weekend, Christchurch punk band Nervous Jerk won the 2017 RDU RoundUp.

RDU’s Round Up is a band competition, started by independent radio station RDU98.5fm, where the biggest little bands from Christchurch battle it out for the top spot.

The three-piece band made up of guitarist and vocalist Tom Kerr, bassist Brad Wright and drummer Johnny Fast, took first place up against acts such as Contact Rock, Sunset Synth and EgoValve. The win came as a surprise to them, as they didn’t even think they would make it through to the semi-finals.

“I guess because we’re a punk band we thought it was more likely to go to a band that played stuff a bit more radio friendly if you know what I mean. We’re all pretty stoked though.” Kerr explains.

Stoked to also be able to replace stolen gear with the prize from their win. The Rockshop vouchers that come with the win will see new guitar gear in Kerr’s hands after his truck got broken into, and his gear stolen. This replacement just in time for them to use it for the next set of songs they have in the works.
