Echo Festival Ticket Refunds

Bad news about Echo Festival ticket refunds: There will be none!

Wellington’s Gerry Rea Partners, in charge of the liquidation of McLaren Falls Festival Ltd, announced that the company now owes $898,952.53 to 244 creditors.

The firm says about $30,000 are being held in a trust by ticketing agency Eventopia. Any money recovered will go to secured creditors, not to the ticket holders.

Artists were approached and asked to refund the previously paid booking deposits, but understandably refused.

After running into consent issues at their Bay Of Plenty location in October 2015 led to changing name, location and duration of the festival, organiser Paxton Talbot officially cancelled the event a month later, blaming slow ticket sales.
