The Pacific Music Awards Trust has advised that entries are now open for the 2021 Pacific Music Awards and announced a suitably auspicious date for the event – September 1st.
With Covid restrictions precluding the annual celebration of Pacific music the 2020 Pacific Music Awards were pushed back to October last year and produced as an online event. The lateness of that awards presentation has impacted the 2021 timeline, but the Trust members are excited about working on the 2021 live ceremony to be held, as usual, at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, and hope to resume the spectacular event’s usual mid-year timing in 2022.
The 2021 Pacific Music Awards will celebrate music released in 2020, with the ceremony providing the opportunity to honour the achievements and success of our current Pacific artists and also pay tribute to our legacy and developing artists.
Pacific artists who have released singles, EPs or albums for sale, during 1 January – 31 December 2020 are eligible to enter, with nominations closing on May 3. Nominations for all the entered award categories are for local Pacific artists, i.e. New Zealand citizens/residents; except for the Best International Pacific Artist Award, which is open to Pacific artists from overseas.
