Violet Highway: Breathe EP

Violet Highway is a three-piece band from Auckland, fronted by singer/guitarist Jacqui Munro with Ant Deane on bass.

Newly-recruited drummer Niki Vel Cruz now replaces James Rimmer who played on this, their second EP, which follows a self-titled five-track debut EP, released in September 2015.

This is high energy rock n’ roll with pop and blues edges. There are not many bands going for this sound these days, and it’s a refreshing punch from the ‘90s, and bands like Tadpole, but with bigger and blacker balls!

There’s a punk energy in the mix too, adding up to a great rock maelstrom that grabs your attention straight away and holds it with catchy, dynamic hooks.

With a growing live reputation, even on the basis of the recordings you can tell this band has got something going on: Groove, chops, and just the right amount of attitude.

Munro’s vocal range is impressive, there’s a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion swagger in there, basically, some old school tightly wound rock n’ roll.

They can blast it in any direction they want.
