Parabola West: Purity Of Weakness EP

Despite regular releases since 2015, Parabola West, real name Amy, somehow remains an under-rated local artist, when she undoubtedly deserves wide recognition.

With ‘Purity Of Weakness’ the US-raised, Raglan-based artist continues to evolve her angelic vocals-over-piano-based compositions, complemented by string arrangements and electronica – and whatever else is needed to embellish her lush muse-ic scapes.

Kate Bush, or perhaps closer to home Lisa Crawley?

Rabbit Hole and How Long? aside, the pace is leisurely, the production elegantly complementing her tranquil voice.

Recorded with Scott Newth at The Porch Studio, this EP is seven tracks long, so close to being an album.

While perhaps lacking the requisite energy or laid-out emotional engagement of a charting single, it is nonetheless effortlessly gorgeous
