Jazz Guitar Shed: ‘Tis The Season After All

It’’s that time of year again, so I thought I’’d arrange a Christmas song for solo jazz guitar. I’’ve put the arrangement together based on the melody and the chord changes above the conventional notation. The chords in-between the staves are the actual voicings used.
Merry Xmas Jazz Guitar Shed nzm152As you can see there are many substitutions used. For reasons of space, I’’ll put up a more detailed explanation of the arrangement on my website (in the Resources section), together with an audio recording.

This is a relatively challenging arrangement, so work through it slowly, a few chords at a time. Get used to changing from one chord to the next, and gradually build up the whole arrangement. Make sure you can clearly hear the melody when you play it – it’s always at the top of each chord here.

Happy practising and until next time, have fun!
