To The Front 2022 Programmes

Two new condensed To The Front 2022 (fka Girls Rock!) programmes have been announced to be held in Te Papaioea (Palmerston North) on October 7-9, and Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) over Labour Weekend and two weeks later.

Aimed at helping young women, trans, intersex, takatāpui, and gender-diverse youth form bands, build instrument skills, and write original songs, the participants aged 12 – 17 will learn instruments, form bands, write original songs, and perform at a showcase, all guided by professional musicians in an inclusive environment. Alongside collaborative learning, participants will take part in workshops about topics like DIY merchandise, mindfulness, and performance skills. No prior musical experience is necessary.

To The Front Te Papaioea begins on Friday, October 7, and will be hosted by Creative Sounds Society – The Stomach, Palmerston North, allowing us access to their state-of-the-art facilities. To The Front Te Whanganui-a-Tara will start on Saturday, October 22 and will be hosted by the College of Creative Arts, Massey University Wellington.
