It feels like the timing couldn’t be more perfect for Loves Ugly Children ‘s reunion show on August 22 at The Mothership in Tāmaki Makaurau!
The deeply emotive raw power that New Zealand’s Loves Ugly Children brought to international fans throughout the 1990s is back.
A hugely powerful force both live and recorded, Loves Ugly Children were arguably the backbone of the underground emo/punk/shoegazer/grunge music scene in Aotearoa during the mid-90s, releasing a good handful of EPs and albums for Flying Nun. They toured hard, throughout NZ, Australia and Europe before disbanding in 1998.
Their drive, their energy, their focus was, and still is, pure strength and authenticity. Their output is a great case for music being healing. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for this reunion.
Reforming are original members, Simon Maclaren (vocals, guitar) and Floss Fleury (vocals, bass guitar), and Jason Young (vocals, drums)
Expect to hear all the songs you wanna hear and then some, but being a week night, they promise to get started early enough!
