Recorded Music NZ board shuffle

Recorded Music NZ has announced that Myra Hemara, currently an observer on the Board, will take Universal Music’s Threshold Director seat on the RMNZ board from the start of May 2025, following the recent announcement of longtime Universal Music NZ head Adam Holt’s retirement.

Holt is retiring from his role as Chairman of Universal Music NZ from 30 April, when he will also end a 25-year role on the boards of RMNZ and its predecessor organisations. He was appointed to the PPNZ Board in 2001 and later became PPNZ Chairman, as well as being President of RIANZ. In 2013, when the two bodies merged, he became a director on the new Recorded Music NZ board.

Gareth Brown of Sony Music Entertainment NZ (Director, Commercial & Licensing), will replace Hemara in the board observer position. With Board elections coming up RMNZ are inviting expressions of interest for the two elected board director positions, the Independent Rights Holder Director and Artist Representative Director, and will call for formal nominations for candidates in April.

If you are interested in these elected positions you can read more here or contact RMNZ Member Services via memberservices@recordedmusic.co.nz
