2021 NZ Children’s Music Awards Winners

Winners of the 2021 NZ Children’s Music Awards have been announced at a family-friendly event held at Auckland’s Tuning Fork, on Sunday, May 16.

Presented by Recorded Music NZ, the Best Children’s Music Artist award went to fleaBITE for ‘Snakes Alive’ (“… the fifth fabulous fleaBITE album,” as Robin Nathan described it on release in November 2020).

Michal Bush, Andrew Knopp and Victoria Knopp took home the APRA Best Children’s Song Award for Brave performed by Music with Michal, while NZ On Air’s Best Children’s Music Video award went to Captain Festus McBoyle for Bubble.

This year’s Baysting Prize for Children’s Champion was given to legendary kids’ TV show What Now. The award acknowledges the significant and outstanding contribution to the development and wellbeing of NZ children and was video-presented by PM Jacinda Ardern, who noted that What Now had been making innovative, educational and entertaining content for 40 years.
