Radio NZ is taking entries for their first ever original Christmas song competition – offering to professionally produce and record the winning tune.
The station is asking kiwi songwriters to submit their own Christmas inspired compositions, a theme they say can be interpreted however the songwriter wishes, so long as it relates to the season in some way.
The winning entrant will be flown to Lyttelton to record the song at The Sitting Room studio with award-winning producer Ben Edwards (known for his work with Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, Nadia Reid, Troy Kingi and Tami Neilson). Also included are flights and accommodation for a band of up to 5 members as well as mastering at Auckland’s Kog Studios.
To enter, submit an mp3, along with lyrics, a band photo and a 200-word writeup about yourself and your song to the RNZ website by 5pm on July 17.
