Pesk: Ground

Noise, shoegaze, rawk… Pesk ticks quite a few boxes. The coldwave thing is a bit too specialised to make sense to most people, so let’s stick with ‘industrial shoegaze’, because that’s the satisfaction contained herein.

A touch of My Bloody Valentine, even city-mates Carriage H (Die! Die! Die! before they were the legends they are) – the contents of the packet should now be apparent.

Pesk is an interesting proposition as it involves just two members – Amee Robinson from Auckland (ex-Brunettes and Ruby Suns), and former Gideons’ member Raff.

Their musical past doesn’t really matter because the present is so palpable and lush, but you can have fun carving into the backwater histories. Spacemen 3, HDU and more get a bit of a look in. It sounds really full for just two members – and ultimately a very satisfying experience.
