Quinn The Human: Mission Helsinki EP

Auckland-based five-piece Quinn The Human showcase a collection of songs on their second EP release that demonstrates how you can rock out and still remain clever in the way you write.

Starting with Swings In Reno there is a vintage sound that helps bring out the essence of what ‘Mission Helsinki’ is seeking to accomplish, the song slowly building to a solid guitar solo that nods to Tom Morello, an obvious influence.

With reverb-soaked guitars, a tight rhythm section and clear and excellently performed vocals, the sound of the EP is spacious and glorious on headphones.

You Killed My Passion For Dance and stand out track If I Were An Arsonist show that Quinn The Human don’t want you to think you know their sound from the first track.

Throughout the EP, there are plenty of musical references to artists like Tool and Queens Of The Stone age, all of which is done so well that it is still Quinn The Human.
