Stella Bennet, aka Benee and producer/writer Josh Fountain, are the first locals to join the  1,000,000,000 List this year – reaching the quite mind-bending one billion plays with their 2019 alt-pop hit Supalonely (also co-written by Brendan Rice and Jenna Andrews).

Supalonely became a relatable lockdown anthem during the early global Covid lockdowns in 2020, and the uncanny timing of the release played hugely into its success, along with becoming a viral dance-challenge sensation on video platform TikTok.

The song now sits amongst many other well-known tracks on the list, including ones by Joel Little and Lorde. APRA created the1,000,000,000 List award to recognise songwriters’ achievement in the streaming area, taking into account streaming numbers from all major services.
