Ōtautahi Arts Centre 2024 Creative Residents Announced

Ōtautahi Arts Centre 2024 Creative Residents Announced

Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre has announced the next four 2024 creative residents to live and work in the heritage precinct in Ōtautahi, musician Phoebe Hurst being one of them.

This is the first of two creative residency programmes this year, and the programme is a rare opportunity for artists to develop their own work free of distractions. All four will create new work in their areas of practice while in residence for the period April 8 to June 16. The creative residence apartment is a shared space and the programme also builds collaboration across creative disciplines.

Multi-disciplinary artist Phoebe Hurst has released two EPs under her artist name Phoebe Vic and is now embarking on the creation of an album, alongside producer Emily C. Browning. She was also a band member for local artist Ashy, travelling to SXSW in Austin and Sydney last year.

All residents:

  • Phoebe Hurst (music)
  • Sacha Copland (dance)
  • Shay Horay (writing)
  • Ron Te Kawa (textile arts).
