The annual NAMM Show in Anaheim, California is a 3-day mega show of pretty much all that’s new and kicking in the realm of music instruments – of all persuasions.

It’s a place where small companies with smart new products can make a quick impact, though the mega brands typically dominate with huge display stands, endorsee artist performances and multiple new product releases. That said, Gibson was notably absent, amid growing speculation about the legendary guitar company being in serious financial trouble.

Many of the highlights from NAMM this year seem to have been in the realm of synthesis, from the hardware and software versions to colourful plastic ‘toys’ designed to encourage creativity in musicians as young as 3!
