Jim Laing, guitarist and singer in 1980s indie-rock band Jean Paul Sartre Experience, died unexpectedly earlier this week.

Laing was highly regarded by peers. His earlier musical projects included Nicotine, and after JPSE disbanded he formed Lanky with drummer Robert Key, releasing the album ‘Wait’ in 2000.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, April 16 at 5pm at Muriwai Golf Club.
