Composers Salina Fisher and Nadia Freeman have been selected for the 2023 Art Music Fund, a partnership of APRA AMCOS and SOUNZ.

The fund will provide each with an $8,000 grant to support their new works. Salina’s project, Papatūānuku, is a collaboration with Jerome Kavanagh and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, celebrating the unique voices of taonga pūoro and their connection with nature.

Nadia’s project will use electronic instrumental music, live sampling, song, and theatre to tell the history of the 60,000 indentured labourers taken from India to Fiji under inhumane conditions.nadia freeman
