Troy Kingi has done it again, this time beating out fellow finalists Miles Calder (and his album ‘Autopilot Life’) and folk duo We Mavericks (‘Grief’s a Gardener’), to be awarded the 2022 Best Folk Artist Tūī for his ‘Black Sea Golden Ladder’ album.
A collaboration between Kingi and singer/songwriter/producer Delaney Davidson, ‘Black Sea Golden Ladder’ is a collection of free-form compositions set to 10 original poems, documenting the life cycle of humankind.
Kingi has also collaborated with Hi Mama Productions to produce a visual representation of the album that explores an existential life experience.
