Like A Storm: {Chaos} Theory Part One

Like A Storm is a formidable band of brothers in total control of their own affairs. Matt Brooks – vocals /guitars /programming /keys; Chris Brooks – ditto plus didgeridoo, and Kent Brooks, ditto plus bass. All drums on the album are by Roye Robley. These guys are slick. Reference points would definitely be Linkin Park, a bit of Blindspott, even some Marilyn Manson.

Third track in is a recommendable cover of Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise, so clearly they feel confident in doing whatever tracks they like. This is a hard-hitting international release, recorded in their Vancouver home base and a couple of quality studios in the States. The Brooks brothers wrote all the material (apart from that cover), engineered, produced and had a hand in additional mixing – so they are well in control of their own creativity. They’ve nailed the style they’re going for and evidently know exactly what they are doing. There’s considerably more class evident here than there is chaos.
