Huff: Juice

‘Juice’ is the latest release from Palmy electronic duo Huff. It’s only six tracks in length but with a run time of over 50 minutes we’ll call it a full length album. I’m immediately drawn in by the slow ambient build in opening track Source of Intent. Once the beat drops it’s an exciting and original gritty electro house sound.

The music is full of energy and has good dynamics which keep things moving and interesting, while an eclectic array of glitchy noise layers tie it all together. A lack of vocals and/or melodies made it hard to hook into each track and help distinguish them, but the fluid and evolving bass lines give them real life. I found the album really enjoyable to listen to but feel that live would be the place where Huff’s dance music would really take off. Credit should definitely go to Craig Black and Hayden Sinclair for recording the album live and in their very own Huffdotcom mansion.
