Holly Christina: Five And Live

‘Five And Live’ was released in May 2015 by HCM. The title of Holly Christina ’s fifth album alludes to the fact the album contains five studio recorded tunes and three recorded live at Tuning Fork at Vector Arena in Auckland. The Auckland singer/songwriter possesses the ability to write and perform honest songs, with her lyrical content a rolling expressive narrative about events and issues in her life. The songwriting delivers catchy and memorable lines with laid back melodies. Still young, she has developed her own unique sound, reflecting occurrences through song and voice with a naive and quaint charm. There is a jangly bright sound to the guitar throughout the album, reminiscent of Cassadee Pope’s sound on I Am Invincible, her voice is sweet and fits into the acoustic pop genre with ease. ‘Five And Live’ is encased in homely images of the artist and the sound echoes this with a warm, honest feel to the music.
