Helen Corry: Later For The Real Show EP

Working with electronic dance acts like Jupiter Project, Jetski Safari and Ryan Enzed, Helen Corry has lent her distinctive voice to a good few high rotate local bangers in recent years.

She’s also appeared regularly on the NZ festival circuit and now has delivered her first solo EP. ‘Later For The Real Show’ includes five songs, any of which could become earworms with enough pop FM support.

That said her songs go much deeper than being ‘radio pop’. La Femme, the second track on the EP had her banned from Facebook due to the provocative video content. She touts this song as her response to the #metoo campaign, and the catchy electro beat holds a powerful and empowering message for women.

Helen Corry describes her music as being synth-based alternative pop and the synth influence is evident throughout the EP, along with a tiny hint of folk/whimsy.

With vocals not unlike wind chimes in the breeze Helen Corry has versatility, and lyrical content that is of real quality.

Released late in 2017, leading single Strike is all about inspiration – waiting for it to come, and battling with it once it does. With promises of another EP on the way, you should certainly take this chance to get to know her music.
