Entry criteria: Degree level General Academic admission via NCEA 3, or 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 in four subjects including 12 credits in a language-rich subject, or equivalent. For further information see below for contacts.
Emphasis: The Bachelor of Music & Performing Arts degree is for those who are passionate about entertaining, performing, exploring the cutting edge of sound, and bringing artistic ideas to life – it is for those who are driven to find their musical voice.
This degree has endorsements in Performance, Music Production, Composition and Theatre (including Musical Theatre, dance, contemporary performance, drama, sound design, music technology, songwriting, arranging).
Qualification: Bachelor of Music & Performing Arts (BMusPA)
Facilities: Students have 24-hour access to recording studios, practice/rehearsal spaces, including fully equipped production edit suites and individual workstations.

Course: TE ARA PUTAKE (CREATIVE INDUSTRIES)
Duration: 20 weeks

Entry criteria: Some prior credits or experience in the areas of music (eg 12 Level 1 NCEA credits) or you can attend an interview with Media Arts staff to help find the best fit.
Emphasis: Designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed for further study at tertiary level.
Qualification: NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4)
Career prospects: With further study – audio engineer, songwriter, sound designer, performance, film and video sound.

Course: BACHELOR OF MEDIA ARTS – HONOURS
Duration: One year

Emphasis: This post-graduate programme aims to develop an in-depth research-based project in the area of music.
Qualification: BMA – Honours

Course: MASTER OF ARTS – MUSIC
Duration: One year or two years part-time.

Emphasis: This post-graduate degree consists of a major self-directed research project in music. This includes studio-based practice and a supporting written dissertation. (Part time study option available.)
