Duration: Three years for Bachelor’s degree (full time).

Emphasis: UC School of Music offers a vibrant range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have four majors: Performance, Composition, Creative Music Technology and Music Studies. Music is also offered as a major and minor in the BA. The programme fosters collaboration and engagement with the community.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music (Hons), Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts, Doctor of Philosophy (Music), Graduate Diploma in Arts (Music), Certificate in Arts.

Career prospects: Our graduates work as performers, composers, music education, arrangers, songwriters, musical leaders, arts administrators and music therapists, as well as in journalism, TV and radio; publishing; event management; recreational health and therapeutic services; and many related careers.

Facilities: Performance, rehearsal and practice rooms; computer/keyboard labs; recording facilities.

Lecturers and Tutors: Dr. Francis Yapp, Dr. Reuben de Lautour, Dr. Justin DeHart, Professor Mark Menzies, Professor Jonathan Le Cocq, Hamish Oliver, and 30 Performance Tutors who are prominent Christchurch musicians, including Lauren Barus (L.A. Mitchell), Zara Ballara, Tim Emerson, Mike Fudakowski, and leading members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
