Video Premiere – Villain by WILKA

WILKA makes dance-pop that punches emotionally as much as physically. Born in Poland, Patrycja Piasta moved to New Zealand at 12, growing up between languages, cultures and identities in a way that still shapes her music.

Previously releasing music under her given name as Pat Piasta, Villain finds her stepping into the ring and into a new chapter as WILKA, the name that meaning ‘she-wolf’ in Polish – reconnecting with her roots while building her sound in Aotearoa.

WILKA writes about connection, longing, and self-discovery. With Villain she explores what happens when someone else writes your story for you.

Co-written and produced with Devin Abrams (Pacific Heights) Villain marks a new sonic direction for her musical project, blending cinematic electronic production with emotionally driven pop.

Villain is my boldest release yet, a dark, high-energy dance-pop track about reclaiming your identity after being painted as the ‘bad guy’ in someone else’s story. The song was recorded and produced by Devin at his studio in Napier.”

Built around themes of manipulation, betrayal, and emotional resilience, the song captures the experience of being misunderstood and judged, simply for choosing your own path. Instead of trying to change other people’s minds, Villain embraces the label, turning it into a symbol of strength, independence, and self-worth.

“Sometimes becoming the villain is simply another name for refusing to be controlled,” WILKA punches back.
