Kaylee Bell has won a Country Music Association Of Australia 2023 Golden Guitar Award for Best Vocal Collaboration, announced at a ceremony at the spiritual home of Aussie country music, Tamworth.
The win was for Same Songs by James Johnston. Bell was also nominated for Best Contemporary Country Album Of The Year and Album Of The Year, while fellow Kiwi Jenny Mitchell was in the running for Best Alt-Country Album.
With 40 million+ streams Kaylee Bell is the most streamed female country artist in Australasia in the past four years. Just a week ago it was revealed that she would be supporting Ed Sheeran on his six-date NZ tour in February, Bell describing that opportunity as a dream come true.
“Wowser, wrapped up an incredible week last night taking home my very first Golden Guitar with my friends for a song that you have made your own and given a life to bigger than we ever imagined. Thanks to James Johnston for having me on this song and to the writers Jared, Gav and Nolan who wrote on this song with us. I believe it’s so important to acknowledge the songwriters as they are the backbone of our industry, we are nothing without the songs and we are certainly nothing without all of you listening and supporting us”, she writes on her Instagram.
