The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) will induct Crowded House into their hall of fame at their annual awards ceremony on November 23.

The band formed in Melbourne in 1985, founded by Kiwi Neil Finn and Australians Paul Hester and Nick Seymour, while Split Enz were on what turned out to be a hiatus .

In the 30 years since, Crowded House have sold over 2 million albums, equating to 30 platinum albums in Australian terms, won 13 ARIA awards, as well as international awards like an MTV Music Award and a Brit Award, and a number of their songs have turned into timeless classics known all over the world.

“Since our formation in Melbourne and our first album release in 1986 we have enjoyed a special relationship with Australia, one that has strengthened and endured over the years. We feel truly blessed that our songs have become a valued part of peoples’ lives across generations. As a result, our affinity with fans and the music community here is unique and one we hold very close. We are delighted and honoured to accept the invitation to be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame,” – Neil Finn and Nick Seymour.
