NZ On Air Music have announced their NewMusic Single funding December 2021 decisions, with 36 new songs selected to get $10,000 backing for their ‘strong broadcast and online audience potential across a range of local audiences and platforms’.
The lucky three dozen were chosen from another huge round, with 184 applications covering a wide range of promising new songs. The December assessment panel was Aaron Gardiner (The Hits), Tony Stamp (RNZ Music), Steph Walker (Auckland Arts Festival), Barnaby Weir (The Black Seeds/Fly My Pretties) and Jeff Newton (NZ On Air).
Across the five NewMusic Single rounds in 2021, NZ On Air received a total of 888 applications and funded 194 new songs. The January/February 2022 New Music Single round opens late December with applications due by January 20. All New Music Single application dates for next year can be found here.
