Applications are now open for the inaugural Afro Link SongHubs being held in Tāmaki Makaurau this May.
With support from NZ On Air and the NZ Music Commission, APRA AMCOS Aotearoa are staging this first songwriting retreat for artists of black diasporic identity, which will be curated by JessB. The four day event will take place at Auckland’s Big Fan Studios, May 6-9, with spaces for six NZ-based writers or writer/producers working alongside five writer collaborators from Australia.
“I’ve met so many amazing artists of African descent across so many different cities,” JessB explains, “and I thought that it would be a really cool idea to bring everybody together. I think that collaboration is the most important part of uplifting a scene, and I really want to see more artists getting opportunities.”
