Nominations are now open for the 2020 NZ Music Awards | Ngā Tohu Puoro o Aotearoa.
The awards are open to NZ artists who have had recordings commercially released between 1 August 2019 and 31 July 2020. The nomination process closes on 7 August 2020 with the details available at www.nzmusicawards.co.nz.
While confirming that there will be an actual award celebration this November, event organisers Recorded Music NZ haven’t yet confirmed the date or venue. One significant change noted comes with the ending of a 15-year sponsoring partnership with Vodafone, with no replacement naming-rights sponsor yet announced.
“We’d like to thank Vodafone for all its support over the past 15 years, it’s been a pleasure working alongside their team as we honoured the very best of New Zealand music,” says Damian Vaughan, RMNZ’s CEO.
Another notable change comes with the reintroduction of the Mana Reo award in 2020. This new Tui award will recognise albums, singles or live performances with at least 50% Te Reo content. Alongside the Mana Reo award there will continue to be a Tui presentation for the Best Māori Artist | Te Kaipuoro Māori Toa.
