Music Accessibility Workshop Series

Music Accessibility Workshop Series

Auckland-based Establish Music have been looking for ways to promote accessibility in the music industry for disabled music practitioners through their Music Accessibility Workshop Series.

With November events set up for Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and online, they’re planning to meet with the broader music industry to hear ideas for positive changes to achieve together.

Dates:

  • Tāmaki Makaurau , November 5
  • Te Whanganui-A-Tara, November 19
  • Online via Zoom, November 24
  • Ōtautahi, November 26

The workshops are planned to be fun, relaxed and interactive. There will be time to get to meet everyone over refreshments and to discuss current approaches to accessibility, explore the principles created in Establish Music’s information guide – ‘ The Accessibility Framework’ – and to workshop ideas through a co-design session.

You can register here – the events are open to everyone (including disabled and non-disabled individuals, musicians and non-musicians), who is interested to learn more about accessibility pathways.

Each workshop will include:

  • Accessible networking – morning refreshments where attendees can chat and get to know one another with support from accessibility peers.
  • An introduction to ‘The Framework’ – including an open discussion about current accessibility issues and the principles the framework promotes.
  • A Q+A session – for participants to share their ideas and give feedback.
  • An interactive accessibility co-design session – to explore ways in which we can work together to create positive solutions.
