Drummers don’t often get dedications, but this weekend drummers in the Auckland region have a great opportunity to learn more at the Drummers’ Day Out, a day of workshops and drum clinics at the Otara Music Arts Centre, Shop 5, 46 Fairmall, Otara.
OMAC have teamed up with Yoko-Zuna drummer Swap Gomez to present ‘Drummers Day Out’, a free intensive one day drum clinic and workshop running from 10am – 5pm on Saturday May 6.
Staged as part of the annual OMAC NZ Music Month workshop series, presenters will include Corey Friedlander (City of Souls/ 8 Foot Sativa), Tom Broome (Aaradhna/ Homebrew/ Anika Moa), Ross Nansen (Stan Walker/ Vince Harder/ The Levites) and Yoko-Zuna’s stickman Swap Gomez.
Drummers Day Out will also feature two complimentary workshops on MPC finger and cue point drumming from Brandon Haru (Ladi6/ Vallkyrie) while a local Cook Island log drummer will host a class on the art of traditional Polynesian percussion techniques. Registrations are essential – email OMAC@Aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
