Course: NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN MUSIC (Level 4)

Duration: One year full-time
Commences:

Emphasis: Develop your musical skills and understanding of the industry. You’ll cover theory, composition, music production, instrument and professional studies, as well as performing in a band. Learn from musicians including bass player Johnny Lawrence, session and solo vocalist Lisa Tomlins and drummer Rick Cranson.

Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Music

Career prospects: Musician, performer, band member or further study

Facilities: Computer labs running recording, MIDI, ear training and music notation software; performance spaces equipped with stage, full PA, backline and lighting; AV equipped classrooms; fully equipped rehearsal rooms, library, student support and peer tutoring.

Course: CERTIFICATE IN DJ AND ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION (Level 4)

Duration: One year full-time
Commences

Emphasis: Boost your skills training under DJ Raw, Alphabethead, DJ Spell and DJ Shan. Plus you’ll learn from industry speakers who are club owners, performers and world-class DJs. Focus on DJ performance, turntable skills, the art of mixing, the history of DJing, music production and industry studies.

Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in DJ and Electronic Music Production

Career prospects: Professional DJ, performing artist.

Facilities: DJ suites running Serato Scratch Live software and Logic Pro; computer labs; rehearsal spaces; PA and lighting systems; library, student support and peer tutoring.

Prominent graduates: DJ Static, DJ DeVice, DJ Bezerik, EA Kut, DJ Ruse and DJ Klipz.

Course: NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN MUSIC (Level 5)

Duration: One year full-time
Commences

Emphasis: Study composition, improvisation, recording and production, instrument studies (including the voice) and ensemble performance.

Qualification: New Zealand Diploma in Music L5

Facilities: Labs running recording, MIDI, ear training and music notation software; performance spaces equipped with stage, full PA, backline and lighting; AV equipped classrooms; fully equipped rehearsal rooms, library, student support and peer tutoring.

Course: NEW ZEALAND DIPLOMA IN MUSIC (Level 6)

Duration: One year full-time
Commences

Emphasis: Focus on instrument studies with one on one lessons. Work collaboratively on ensemble performance. Analyse and re-arrange.

Qualification: New Zealand Diploma in Music L6

Facilities: Labs running recording, MIDI, ear training and music notation software; performance spaces equipped with stage, full PA, backline and lighting; AV equipped classrooms; fully equipped rehearsal rooms, library, student support and peer tutoring.

Course: BACHELOR OF CREATIVITY (MUSIC) Level 7

Duration: Three years full-time
Commences

Emphasis: Develop your instrument and musicianship skills to a high level through studying arranging, improvisation and recording/production skills. Work together on composing songs, releasing albums or putting on a show. Perform at Te Auaha and play gigs at music venues around Wellington.

Qualification: Bachelor of Creativity (Music)

Career prospects: Working in the music and entertainment industries, performing, composing, recording and teaching

Facilities: Recording studios and editing suites, MIDI, performance spaces equipped with stage, full PA, backline and lighting; AV equipped classrooms; rehearsal rooms, library, student support and peer tutoring.
