Monk Party: Silence Flooded Trance

This is devotional music, but one with a wide context. Monk Party are a father and son duo (Pragunya and Nelson Myers-Daly), and subscribe to the Sri Chimnoy school of thought. A quote attributed to him states: “Music will play a most important role in bringing about world oneness.” In fact it may be the only thing that does. Whether it be metal or Hare Krishna devotions, music has the ultimate potential to uplift and inspire which is what is going on here. It’s very stripped down and basic – acoustic guitar, a hand drum for percussion, the occasional pan pipe… There’s a consistent, even tone; very calm, with no sudden movements! Whether for meditation, yoga, scene setting… there’s a place for sounds and vibrations such as these. Call it hippie if you like -sometimes we just need to wind down. The first track of nine – Aum Shivaya Namaha is available for free download, so you can check it out and see if you want more. This is not their first release – it follows ‘Daily My Promise’ from August 2013, and earlier releases ‘Peace’ + ‘Purity’. You don’t need to subscribe to any particular philosophy to enjoy or participate in this music. It may be devotional, “ancient”, “haunting Middle Eastern” and involve mantras, but ultimately it is timeless and true WORLD music. Recommended if you’re trying to lead a better and calmer life.
