Break A Leg, Helgorithms!

Break A Leg, Helgorithms!

How badly do you have to injure yourself to be featured on international music websites? Post-metallers Helgorithms found out when bassist Bailey Roiall double-fractured his leg at a gig at Auckland’s Ding Dong Lounge in mid May.

Roiall is widely known for his crazy stage antics.  According to the Ding Dong Lounge management, he “jumps on the bar, amps, runs up the walls and people love it.”

Nothing unusual then, when he  did one of his jumps while on stage, as captured in the photo below on May 20.

Unfortunately his move didn’t end  the way he expected, when something went wrong on landing.

The subsequent spectacular shot taken by photographer Aaron Leece turned out to be one of the most brutal, gruesome NZ rock photos of recent times.

Within hours, the photo had made it onto social media, with memes being created in its honour, and even a German website Impericon wrote about the incident.

Following surgery to repair the injuries to his leg, Roiall is said to be on the mend. Get better, Bailey!
