Emo Empire: Fact & Regret

Despite the plethora of social media sites, what can be gleaned is that Tauranga musician Billy Edwards runs a label (Hope Failure Misery Records) and is in a position to offer recording facilities and help others with their music. In any case, these are gentle pop-to-rock tunes, relaxed softly spoken/sung words with lyrics included with the CD. Two songs – Walk Away & You Should Be Mine – are in two parts. I’m impressed with the relaxed-ness of it all. You can find Edwards (online) doing covers of Jimmy Eat World and Underoath – but also Shakespears Sister’s Stay, so this is not a one pigeonhole. It’s all Edwards apart from bass and vox from Steve Whimster, some guest vocals from Cailtlin Cox, Cherie Carr and the Bethlehem Community Church Hub Choir.
